Over 35 years ago, Frank dreamed of creating a full-service family health club to promote physical fitness for the community to enjoy improved health. Flex-Fit opened in 1989, and since has expanded and changed names to The Energy Club. Frank has lived here all his life; he loves his community and has provided innumerable donations and countless hours of community service to make it a better place for all, including serving on the Governor's Commission for Physical Fitness & Sports, The Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Gulf Coast, the LB Planning & Zoning commission and more! In 1995 the Energy Club was awarded the MS Gulf Coast Small Business of the Year. The Energy Club Team appreciate Frank for his strong leadership and respect for everyone. Many members consider the Energy Club family and attribute their good health to The Energy Club!
Sheryl earned her Integral Yoga Certification (E-RYT) at Yogaville Virginia in 1998, Occupational Therapy degree at La Trobe University Australia in 1991, and National Board Certification in OT in 1996. She enjoys staying current and continues to expand her knowledge with various certifications and attendance at conferences and seminars related to fitness, health and wellness. Sheryl is passionate about empowering others to realize their strengths to enjoy wellness with a balance of physical fitness and emotional health. Sheryl combines her therapy expertise and personal recovery from injury to make exercise achievable and enjoyable for all ages, abilities, and fitness levels. Sheryl also teaches workshops, and retreats on a variety of health and wellness topics.
Alicia Anderson is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Certified Stretching & Flexibility Coach, Golden Hearts Senior Fitness Instructor & Group Aerobics Instructor, with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in strength training, balance, coordination, and functional training in clients over 50. As a strong believer in overall health, Alicia is also a certified Master Herbalist. Her education began at the University of MS, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree, and has continued to develop by attending conferences and seminars related to her clients' needs.
Monica joined The Energy Club team in 2021. She earned Zumba & Zumba Gold certification in 2014, and Strong in 2017. She graduated from University of Phoenix in 2011with Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management. Monica has over 20 years fitness experience with strength training, aerobics, circuit training, aqua aerobics & Zumba classes. Dancing is Monica’s passion & makes her feel happy! She believes happiness is a choice and she loves the opportunity to share this choice with her students by teaching Zumba; a calorie-burning HIIT class with fun, energetic low & high intensity latin, hip hop & fitness dance moves for toning, strength, endurance, weight-loss and happiness!
John is a FITOUR certified Personal Trainer and Small Group Training Instructor. As a former college athlete, John understands the importance of fitness, setting goals and helping others achieve their fitness goals. He enjoys working with all ages and all levels of fitness from beginner to advanced.
John has coached and built strength and conditioning programs for many youth baseball and football teams, along with his own 20+ years of strength training, body building , flexibility and agility training. John has a passion for fitness, strength training, healthy lifestyle and knows what it takes to reach your goals from start to finish!
Alissa is a FITOUR Certified Fitness Instructor for Spin, TABATA, Bootcamps, Abs and more. She enjoys working with people of all ages, shapes and sizes! From conditioning and training for local youth sports teams and teaching PE at a local school to helping obese clients achieve a healthy lifestyle ... and everyone in between! With 4 very active children and battling the weight issue her whole life she knows what it takes to help you with your fitness goals.
Michaela earned certification as a Jazz Dance Instructor in Barcelona Spain in 1995, along with certifications in general Fitness Instruction and Personal Training to teach fitness classes as a hobby during her career in Aviation. On retirement, she followed her passion to work full time as a Fitness Instructor with certifications in: Specialist in Exercise Therapy, Pilates, Yoga, Qi Gong, and High School Strength and Conditioning to expand her knowledge and become a well-rounded instructor. Michaela’s motto is: Exercise should be fun! It is never too late to start something new!
Katherine earned Zumba instructor certification in 2019. She joined The Energy Club team in 2021 and enjoys teaching adults and the children with KidFit. Katherine is the Northcom/Southcom Regional Lead for the Littoral & Riverine Branch of the Naval Oceanographic Office’s Warfighting Support Center. She earned Bachelor of Science & Master’s in Marine Sciences (1997) from the University of South Alabama. Katherine has led Girl Scouts troops for 16 years, helped charter Mississippi Coastal Civitans, and served on the board of directors for the Gulf Coast Health Educators. Katherine enjoys staying fit and active and sharing the fun of Zumba!
Donna Painter is a licensed NETA exercise instructor and Certified Silver Sneakers Instructor. Donna taught aerobic exercise for twenty-five years at the Parks and Recreation in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana before moving to Long Beach in 2015. Donna's life-long passion for health and exercise is contagious ! Donna is very skilled with teaching fun, engaging and effective classes for all levels, including the "young at heart !"
Sarah Walsh began her fitness and healthcare career 20 years ago as a Keyser certified spinning instructor and certified massage therapist. In 2017 she completed training and testing to become a certified Barre Intensity Instructor. Sarah has a bachelors degree in Communication Studies from Indiana University and works as a licensed real estate broker in addition to teaching fitness classes. She believes the first step to fitness is showing up. “Don’t be afraid to try something new to challenge yourself. You can achieve your fitness goals with a wide variety of ever evolving group fitness classes at The Energy Club”.
